To this day, most operational flying squadrons maintain a 'Linebook', containing those little gems and nuggets of 'wisdom' spoken and overheard by the pilots and members of the squadron. Often irreverent when taken out of the immediate context they were uttered in, they live on in perpetuity maintained in the Linebook for future squadron mates to learn from and laugh at the antics of their forebears. This page will hopefully grow as we record such utterances, and we encourage all members to record and report such verbal bloopers in the spirit intended.
26 Dec 20 - Upon landing at Maupertus after an uneventful patrol all the way from Argentan, Trueno declares that he was relieved they didn't actually get into any fights as he'd forgotten to charge his cannon, or even un-guard his trigger. Dusty , "What you mean is, you were going to give them a sporting chance..."
14 Jan 21 - River reporting back his progress on attacking a stream of B17s "Ha ha, I fookin' took the wing off the bomber!". Dusty quizzically asked " With your wing?". "No, no, with the machine gun" came the reply, shortly followed by "Oh, yeah, with my wing, with my half wing..." . He made it back and landed it though.
14 Jan 21 - Plush overhears an ongoing conversation between River and Burrito... River -" The thinner your joystick, the more feeling you have in it". Also River, " I sent a picture to Phil of it. It was huge. Like a leg". Burrito reports that the conversation was indeed about the merits of VKB's line of stick tops...
January 21 - Milan are engaged north of Cherbourg with a couple of 3 of bandits when Burrito declares "I'm disengaging to the south. I've lost some important bits". He manfully struggles to fly his one winged Anton for another couple of minutes before bailing. Or something like that.
14 Jan 21 - River and Plush are up patrolling near Caen, with Burrito on radar control. They have been vectored onto a single target with a low overcast, Plush in the lead closing rapidly towards the bandit. In a confident voice we here, " River, guns in 5..." at which point Plush visualises a 109 barrelling past him towards the target and calls "Ok, I'm off". In a much less confident voice we immediately hear "No, no, you..." and then from Plush, "OK then, I'm on...". 5 mins of fighting then ensued before Burrito declared "River, JaFu, I've lost your radar track" followed moments later by a Red player typing, "Nice Ram..." in the in game chat. We all thought the 'Guns in 5' meant 5 secs, but perhaps he meant minutes.
